The dominance of Tesco’s continues as it is revealed that roughly 300,000 customers joined their mobile service between the months of March and August.

Having already won the supermarket retail wars by being the largest store, the tirade continued as they decided to sell mobile phones to their customers, and the move has paid off with the positive figures published in Tesco’s half yearly report. By adding a number of Tesco Phone shops and offering competitively priced contracts, sales have soared resulting in the surge of people flocking to them.

The half yearly report states: “Customers have been attracted to our great value packages including a market leading tariff at just £6 per month. An important factor in the growth of our Pay Monthly business has been the success of our Phone Shops, which offer an assisted sale with specialist staff.”

A Tesco spokeswoman told Mobile the retailer is on target to open 200 Phone Shops by the end of the financial year. She added: “The roll out is going really well and is really helping contract sales and sales of the iPhone too, which are also doing really well, particularly our 12 month iPhone contract which has given us a unique selling point. It really appeals to those customers who don’t want a long term commitment.”

Those who want a great deal on mobile phones should probably head to Tesco and have a look at the prices while buying their groceries.
