As more people sell mobile phones to buy the smartphone market dominating iPhone, competitors are being forced to come up with groundbreaking features to compete and Nokia have done just that with their HD camera functionality. And now to promote it they have enlisted the help of Pamela Anderson and Ed Westwick.

The Nokia N8 is due to be released on September 30th and the high-end Symbian 3-based phone needs to stand its ground firmly in the smartphone wars against the previously mentioned iPhone as well as Android and Blackberry.

But the N8 boasts something that none of the other phones do – a 12-megapixel camera which can record full HD video. Maybe if you are an aspiring moviemaker you’ll want to recycle your mobile phone and get an N8.

To publicise the phone and its features Nokia are running a promotional competition featuring Pamela Anderson and Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick in which members of the public can star alongside them in a scene filmed using the N8’s high definition camera.

The footage, directed by the McHenry Brothers who have just finished their first full length animated movie Jackboots on Whitehall starring Ewan McGregor and Rosamund Pike, will be compiled to make a short dubbed The Commuter.

The lucky person starring alongside Pamela Anderson will be acting in a bedroom scene, whereas Ed Westwick’s co-star will be shot in an elevator. The Commuter will begin filming in London on 20th September, and you must be over 18 and a resident of the UK to enter the competition.
