Mobile phone users may be interested in selling their old phones and upgrading to an Apple iPhone after a recent study found that the Apple smartphone is the most highly recommended mobile phone device on the market.
The survey carried out by mobile advertising network AdMob concluded that 91% of iPhone users would recommend the phone to others. The iPod touch was also highly recommended with 88% of their users happy to recommend the Apple device.
In contrast only 69% of webOS users recommended their platform whose devices include the Palm Pre. A total of 11% of webOS users wouldn’t advise others to their product compared to just 2% of iPhone users.
iPhone users were also shown to download more paid applications, with 50% of their users purchasing an app at least once a month compared to 21% of Android users. Consumers with webOS devices downloaded the least of both paid and free applications.
Interestingly, the gender splits on the operating systems aren’t all equal. The survey suggests the iPhone has a near-equal split between male (57%) and female (43%) users. WebOs also has a relatively equal split of 58% male and 42% female. On the other hand, Android OS systems are dominated by males who have a 73% share.
Consumers could be tempted to trade in their old mobile phones in order to upgrade to one of the highly recommended devices such as an Apple iPhone or iPod touch.
