New iPhone app

Tailored for Student Life

For the first time in the UK, The University of Central Lancashire in Preston has developed a new iPhone application for fresher students. It would provide detailed information about the campus, including building and campus maps along with other facilities, such as - University e-mail accounts, libraries, lecture theatres, student union activities, entertainment etc.

This app would also enable students to read about the latest news and events from all over the campus and also to book tickets for upcoming events at the University.

Moreover, a map of Preston with specific local information – restaurants, nightclubs and cinema are also included.

Director of learning, Michael Ahern, says – "The new iPhone application illustrates our commitment to provide information and services to our students in a way that is convenient for them.” He further emphasized that students lead very busy lives as they work part-time along with full-time studies and this initiative would enable students to be constantly in touch with the University through mobile phones. “It's a different track for reaching students," It is a free software and can be downloaded by anybody from the Apple iTunes App Store and requires the iPhone 3.0 Software Update or later.
