Samsung unveil new Wave

New Smartphone

South Korean mobile phone makers Samsung have unveiled a new Smartphone - the Samsung Wave, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The device will operate under the new bada operating system and will include a Super AMOLED 3.3 – inch touchscreen display which is thinner, more efficient and less reflective than the more traditional backlit screen.

Consumers could consider trading in their mobile phones and using the cash to put towards purchasing the new Samsung Wave which will also include Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, 1GHz processor and a 5-megapixel photo snapper.

The president and head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, JK Shin, said: “The Samsung Wave truly demonstrates our commitment to deliver rich, connected and innovative Smartphone experiences to everyone.”

He went on to add, “Samsung Wave sees our platform vision become a reality. For the first time, developers have the freedom to create applications across multiple platforms, for consumption on a huge range of devices. In the wave, our developer partners can see the ocean of opportunity that is offered by the bada mobile platform and our device technology.”

Furthermore, the handset will feature support for email, IM and SMS services via the TouchWiz 3.0 UI, which makes it easier to access messages, manage contacts and view calendar events.

The Samsung Wave is expected to become available in the UK from April 2010. So consumers have plenty of time to trade in their old handsets and raise some cash to go towards Samsung’s latest offering.
