Nokia launches Maemo-based smartphone

Nokia have today announced that its highly anticipated Maemo-based smartphone, Nokia N900 has now launched in North America and pre –order customers handsets are also now being shipped out.

Customers who were eager to get their hands on the latest touch screen handset by Nokia will be receiving their phones in the next coming days, unlike customers in the U.K who are still patiently waiting for the release of the latest gadget to rival the iPhone for the Christmas number one spot.

With its 32 GB memory and 3.5 inch touch screen display and 5 Mega pixel camera we are hoping to see the N900 in the shops in the U.K by the beginning of December.

“Consumers from every segment of the population are looking for more out of their mobile device – more power, more ability, more connectivity. The Nokia N900 ushers in a new era with a very powerful mobile computer,” said Alessandro Lamanna, Vice President, Retail Sales, Nokia.

He further added: “With an open source operating system, incorporated technology like an OMAP processor, and real time web widgets, the Nokia N900 delivers the experience of a pocketable computer that has the information you’re looking for right there waiting for you thanks to the ability to be connected just about anywhere.”
