LG has come up with the Google’s Android operating system based smartphone in the form of GW620, aka the ‘InTouch max’. It has officially gone on sale for T-Mobile and Virgin customers in the UK.
With the ongoing trend of integrating social media space on mobile platform, LG has taken this to another new level. Though most of the smartphones are intertwined with various popular social networking site, such as, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace etc, LG tried to integrate the social networking sites to dictate the functionality of the phones.
For example: This handset will enable its users to link his/her friends’ social networking profiles directly with their name on the contact list. There is a feature called ‘Linkbook’. This feature makes it faster and easier than ever to check the friends’ profile directly from the phone book. Moreover, it will also immediately inform the user on any status updates from people’s profiles. It can also inform a user about a new email in the inbox.
Another very interesting feature is an automatic Auto Face-tagging feature. This feature "automatically recognises your friend’s face on a tagged photo. The face recognition program, also called "Face-to-Action, allows users to call, SMS, MMS or join your friend’s social networking site simply by touching their face in a picture", according to www.pocketnow.com
Its much easier to type SMS with the GW620’s full slide-out 5-row QWERTY hardware keyboard for input. This enables users to enter numbers without touching a control or alt button.
Additionally, it offers a few standard features, such as: an onboard MP3 player, Micro SD card storage of up to 16GB, a 5 MP camera, Bluetooth, and a video recording feature.
