If rumours are to be believed, Google is already in planning the Nexus One's successor: Nexus Two.
Nexus One was manufactured by Taiwanese electronic giant, HTC. But, for Nexus two, Goggle is partnering with Motorola, which has been successful in the recent past with the launch of its latest smartphone Droid (aka Milestone).
Moreover, according to Spiros Nikolakopoulos, Vice President and General manager for Distribution of Motorola Devices in Asia Pacific and Internationally, Motorola is expected to launch somewhere around 20 to 30 smartphones in 2010. All the smartphones are set to run Android as the default operating system.
From the pictures available on the Internet, Nexus Two it will definitely beat the current range of smartphones available in the market. The phone which is supposedly codenamed as Shadow (or Phantom) looks stunning with a super-svelte frame, which is only 9mm thick.
It has been speculated that Google is not very happy with HTC over the quality of the product, as there has been many complaints against Nexus One about some flaws relating to 3G connectivity, camera and touchscreen. Thus, Google is exploring its options with Motorola.
However, Andy Rubin, a vice president of engineering at Google and a key figure in the development of the Android operating system said, “The next version of Google's Nexus One mobile phone will be designed with enterprise users in mind and might have a physical keyboard”.
