Recycle Your Mobile Phone

Over 67% of people are not recycling their old mobile phone handsets

It’s hard to believe it but nearly seven out of ten people do not know that you can recycle your old mobile phone and earn  up to £150 in cash or vouchers per handset when doing so. Not only can you get some money in your pocket, but you are also doing your bit for the environment and helping people in less developed countries.

Environmental consequences of  throwing your phone away

Each year almost one and a half million mobile phones are put out with the rubbish, finding their way to land fill sites in the UK. This has terrible environmental consequences - the batteries include extremely harmful substances such as mercury and lead which damage the surrounding area as they slowly leak over time. Instead of being simply thrown away these old phones can actually be recycled when they are repaired and sent to countries where there is still a demand for them.

Help people communicate in isolated locations

In parts of rural Africa, Asia and South America there is often no form of local communication network or internet access for hundreds of miles. People in these areas depend on access to cheap mobile phones so they can keep in touch with each other and gain access to important news and services such as emergency medical treatment.

So get some cash and help the environment

By sending you phone to be recycled, and earning yourself some cash in the process, you can help to stop some of the sixty million handsets that are set to arrive in Britain’s bins over the next few years. The average price paid is £40 and some phones will get a lot more  - the most popular at the moment is the Nokia N95 - sell this phone for ninety-five pounds at Mobile Phone Xchange
